Well then, I bought a thrust master game stick awhile back and still have not used it. Wonder if anyone knows of a good current game that could use it. The last flight sims that I played where Comanche and Tie-fighter, both great games but very (VERY) old. Anything new out there?

I have X3:Terran Conflict but it has a big learning curve IMO is it worth it?

Thanks,

E

I'm confused as to what the X series is supposed to be. I bought X2 but haven't really gotten into it.

I would suggest HAWX, but it has such a horrible gimmick for a arcade-level fighter sim that it shouldn't bear the Tom Clancy brand. Microsoft Flight is F2P if you really want something to do with it.

Other games I would suggest is Freespace 2 and possibly Freelancer. And if you're really bored, a Battlefield game and just hog the fighters. Or if you're ballsy, Falcon 4.0

Apparently there is another X series I got it on steam but not much support I can see. I played the first Freespace but flying with the mouse was not the feel I wanted.

I am bored but NO to the battlefield games, played them, love them but I will always be a ground unit.

I will check out HAWX, Comanche was arcade-level fighter sim, that was fun. I am looking for a game that I can fly around and bomb, or shoot the crap out of almost stupid AI.

Thanx for the suggestions.

E

There's a demo for it on Steam. However, my experience with it has been lukewarm. The main gimmick to the flight controls makes it so it feels like you're flying an RC airplane than flying a jet. i.e., the camera angle is not centered at where you're going.

Otherwise, it looked like it had potential.

Darkstar 1 supports a joystick, there is a lot of combat in it. You can gun and run or launch rockets and torpedoes or outrun your bad guys...all depends on how you build your ship. It has a neat story to it as well. Graphics are still good too.

Oh wait, ever consider the IL-2 series or Wings of Prey? These are more simulation based WWII dog fighting games.

I have wings of prey off of steam and it's a fairly decent sim fighter. It's got dozens of adjustable settings so you can make it as easy or realistic as possible.

HAWX feels like Air Force Delta Storm, for those who have played that game......very arcade style.

i bought X3 a long time ago and I didn't know WTF to do in it. I still don't.
