I'm not sure if this post belongs here or in the Free Clinic, so please feel free to move it.

I’ve come across an issue and am curious if anyone else is having it. I played through the game completely with mostly high settings averaging 40 – 60 fps. A week or so ago I started a second play through to try the other path, this time also averaging 40 – 60 fps. Today I started act 2 and my fps were 10 – 20! I dropped some of my settings down to medium with the same results. So I dropped it down to low and am still getting 10 – 20 fps. It is completely unplayable. I can’t seem to figure out what happened. I haven’t installed anything new (software or hardware). I ran a virus scan and checked for spyware, bots etc. All scans came back negative. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any suggestions?

Forgot my specs: i5 750, EVGA P55 FTW edition, 8GB Corsair DHX DDR3 1600, 80GB SSD & 1TB HD, XFX HD5870, Corsair H50, Win 7 HP all in a HAF 932. Also, all my drivers are up to date.

Thanks in advance.

Have you looked in Device Manager to see if there are any errors listed there?

Have you updated any drivers, like the video driver....I know you said you didn't install any new software; drivers are software and most people don't realize this.

Thank you for your response. I should have replied at some point and mentioned that I managed to fix the issue. A complete uninstall / reinstall solved the problem. I'm still not sure why however...

If the game was corrupt as you proved it to be by reinstalling it, you may have a bad sector or cluster on the hard drive. I would go to the hard drives site and get the diagnostic software and run it. The software is free to download and use. You can find out the manufacture of the drive in Device Manager, under "Disk Drives".

Probably a good idea to turn off Uber sampling and Vsync too. I did and am getting 69 - 71 FPS consistantly ( higher in the cut scenes ).
