They're always under attack Phos. Because a small group of people don't agree with a large group of people leads to that small group filing some paper work at any given moment, and usually stands in some circuit court for further review. I'm not sure what game is now under attack of which you speak of...but I'm sure it's not abusive. We get political here, so I'll try and refrain from the other things we should be focused on besides our own cares.
Source Code is free speech. If that source meets a game engine and becomes something able to be distributed, paid for or not...it's still free speech. When we play it, we are the ultimate judge. Play Running With Scissors' Postal2...if you can't buy or find it, I'll give it to you (I still hold that right). If you're offended, don't play it anymore and forget about it...move on. But then we get into Call Of Duty which should no longer be a FPS, but a SIM. But still, you get people that hate the fact that people do this for a living and want to protest it without logic. Again, it's a game...but it's happening right freaking now. That they see it in game seems like a shock. It's just extremists that don't have open minds. A Closed mind is an excellent thing to waste >:)
No problem with Qbert, Mario, or any other cartoon figure...but as it becomes more visually real, some people should just stop watching since they can't make that disconnect. These people should also stop reading books. In fact, they'd probably want those banned/burned too and they're doing that in schools.
Hey, look...if you want to play a game, play it. If you don't like it, don't play it anymore. This goes back decades now, and it's nothing more than censorship and free speech no matter how you skew it. 2LiveCrew album, banned. Postal game, banned. Mark Twain book, banned. Pink Flamingos movie...allowed due to being "Art". Seriously...play any of the Postal games, and you have free will to NOT be violent. It just turns that way on your own individual will. It's not a good game at all, and wasn't meant to be...it's an experiment. Duke Nukem now? That guy is a jerk, and not a direction games should take.
