Every year I try to play a game of a genre I normally wouldn't and I decided this time it will be Pokemon on the DSi.

Now here's my question: I've heard that Pokemon games change very little on each version. Should I go for the new Black/White or play the older version now that it's cheap?

Best regards,

I don't see anything that says the games have to be PC specific.

Anyway, I would recommend a newer version to a non-regular pokemon player. I'm also unsure as to whether you would be able to play the old versions, unless the DSi store has them. I don't recommend, however, getting the newest, most expensive version either. I'd suggest you look around for Diamond and Pearl versions, unless Black and White is cheaper where you are. This way, if you decide you dislike the game, you have spent less money.

Thank you Kethsar!

Maybe I'll try hearthgold/soulsilver because they're cheap and I won't risk a lot, and because Black/White is almost sold out where I live.

Well, I went to McAllen, Tx this weekend and got Pokemon White for $35 dollars, a steal considering it's $65 where I live.

Thank for the GameBoy suggestion, maybe I'll hit ebay too look for them.

Yeah man, I killed way too much time at school playing that game. I mean, it was a full pokemon game, and then once you went through it, you basically had ANOTHER freaking game.

Also, the DS is backwards compatible, right? So I guess you don't need the GBC.

Pokemon Crystal was my favorite out of the pokemon games. Silver and gold were the first games I ever received.

Unfortunately the DS is not backwards compatible. You could play GBA games, but nothing older than that. I was disappointed when I found that out, as my older bro (who is 18 tomorrow) was the only one with a GBC. I know where it is, and I know he hasn't used it in years, but I don't know if it still works.

Either way, I hope they bring back more of what made Crystal the best version. I know they have moving sprites once again, but I want to see multiple regions in one game again.

I am also a fan of pokemon and I also like to play this game on gameboy. I try different versions of it like Pokemon gold, fire red, yellow and so much more that I can't remember. I also try new versions of it and it is also good with new user interface skill, attack, and more. I think the latest was black and white that I haven't try yet.

Try Black & White, it's amazing, I've never played another Pokemon game but the white version sold me into this series.

Now I have to hit ebay for a pokemon crystal :P
