I enjoyed playing Dragons Age Origins and the sequels The Awakening and Dragon Age 2. These games are RPG and are story driven.

Both the STALKER series and the Fallout series is good if you like the apocalypse type of game for FPS.

Original Bioshock is fun.

Oblivion is fun to play and is a RPG.

The Witcher is good and they made an enhancement pack for it that is bigger than the original game. I enjoyed playing it and I will buy Witcher 2, which will be out soon.

If you like on-line war games, I have been playing Battlefield Bad company 2 and will probably buy 3 when they release it.

Everyones taste in games is different, so it is hard to recommend games to other people.

Have dragon age, maybe I'll give it another go.

I have seen Stalker, never played it, I will look into it.

I have fallout and got bored with it.

I could play Bioshock again.

Played The Witcher and it was great.

Looking forward to Witcher 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Guild Wars 2

Have you played Call of Duty Black Ops? Is it good as a single player?

Thanks

I read some reviews and decided to not buy it.

Get Dragons age the awakening if you liked Dragons age.

Yep! Me too. :D

You might try the FEAR series. I had fun with those games....play it in a dark room with the sound up. You can probably get them at Game Stop for a song today.

While you are there look for Prey...that was really different for a FPS....you can leave your body in that one.

Have you ever played the Baldurs Gate series? If not you are in for a real treat. Just be aware that the game was written in the 1990s, so the graphics aren't great, but the story is outstanding. How you make decisions is how your party members will be assembled. You can only have six in the party, but run across many more you can have in place of other party members and that determines the dialog between the members as you quest....lots of laughs. It still runs in XP, because I am playing through it again. I right clicked on the .exe and told it to play in win98 mode and it runs well.

CoD:Black Ops as a single player game is like the other CoD games. You can only play it so much.

I really enjoyed Black Op's SP. I thought it was quite a bit better then the the previous few and Zombies + MP is a blast. I just got Metro 2033 and it's a blast. I'd check it out as well.

I'm not sure if this is the form of game that you are into...
Dead Space 1 or 2?

Gotta say that this game has the craziest/scariest atmosphere in games up to date (for me). Cannot personally play it for more than 1 hour a day bc I may crap my pants. Great story, great environments, insane weaponry AND enemies.

If not, BulletStorm was pretty wild and non-stopped action gameplay - very fun.

Are Dead Space 1 and 2 both ports?

Because the ports I have played recently have been shit. I hate mouse lag, I turn to look and if its not instant, I cant play it. The whole Riddick game did that, couldnt play it. Mass Effect did it. Could not play that either no matter how much everyone raved about it.

I just watched a bulletstorm video and that game looks hillarious.
At one point, he tore armor off a boss, shot him straight in the backside and got "FIRE IN THE HOLE" bonus--very funny.
I might have to splurge and get that.

What are the entire specs of your System Ender? You've got serious issues with your system whether it be a virus or some hardware problem Every post I see you stating how laggy and shitty games are, but from what you posted in other sections is looks like you are having problems with all of these games and you should not be.

i'd second a few on this list (especially Dragon Age 1 and Baldur's Gate) but looking at my Steam folder there are a couple worth suggesting:

Civ5

Monkey Island 1 and 2 Special Editions

Metro 2033 if your PC can run it

Piggybacking on this thread, anybody got a good RTS? I've already got World in Conflict, SC2, and Sins of a Solar Empire. I don't think I can run Total War very well on this laptop either.

I'm playing through Bioshock for the first time right now (yeah I know I'm slow.. 6 years trapped in FFXI does that) and wow is it good.. The fact that I'm both a gamer and someone deeply interested in philosophy and politics only makes it even better since the whole game immerses you in the world of an Objectivist society that has collapsed into itself with destructive force.

Ever heard of counter-strike source? LOL jk. But I would recommend this:

RTS: StarCraft II
Racing: NFS hot pursuit
Shooters: Crysis 2

I recommend you to try this racing game Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.

I always played that game. It keeps me awake and I learned new tactics in driving and racing cars.

I would say try taking a look at the Crysis series of games, or try Left 4 Dead 2 online. You can play Left 4 Dead 2 single player or anywhere up to 8. Try the gibfest mutation, it's a blast. (pun intended) M60's says it all. For just pure insanity, try Serious Sam HD:the Second Encounter. A really scary game is Amnesia:the Dark Descent, ranks up there with the F.E.A.R. games IMO. Have a fraggin good time.

Nobody's mentioned Portal 1 and 2, so I figured I'd include it. Great game to get you thinking and really funny. Good family friendly game too.

I'm not sure if it was just the preorder or not, but you may be able to get the first one with 2. I would recommend playing through the 1st before tackling the 2nd.

The co-op in the 2nd one is an entirely different set of stages, with separate achievements, which is great, but play through the single-player first which introduces you to the different tools you'll be using in co-op.

Other recommendations that haven't been mentioned:
Gears of War series... 3rd one to come and it's looking like it could be good
Diablo II... a good old classic with D3 coming soon...
You mentioned Mass Effect... great game, and if you're having mouse lag, it's your system, as it works fine on my PC... I'm working on ME2 right now... not quite as good IMO
    Alien Swarm... free through Steam
LotRO (I know you said no MMOs, but if you're into Lord of the Rings at all, this game is win -- Free 2 Play with "pay as you play" unlocking of areas, so no risk involved in trying it out)
