Hello gents,
I was wondering if anybody knew of a decent strategy game that's similar to Daisenryaku. Basically a hex turn-base strategy game like Civilization, but in the modern-era with tanks and aircrafts and such.

civ 5 has all that, just takes time to get your civilization to that level. it has mech inf, destroyers, battleships, bombers, stealth fighters, artillery, subs, and nuclear subs and missiles, and more.

you can setup a custom game in civ V that starts at any tech level you want, so if you want to start out with giant death robots you can.

I thought about civ. From what I've read you have to take into consideration politics and such while Daisenryaku was basically all combat.

well there are like 5 different victory conditions, you can go political if you want but total world domination is always a viable option. If you like turn based strategy games I can assure you that you'll love Civ. The 200 turn demo available through steam, go ahead and give it a try.
