a friend wants to know what games he can play on this laptop:

is there a website or easy way to find what games might work for a particular system?

I would guess most all games out right now is able to be played on that system.

If you ever have a game in question then it has the Hardware requirements posted on the box. The only games I believe you would have a problem with would be older games like Duke Nukem 3D. Doom 1 and 2. Castle Wolfenstein (original) and other that came out back in Dos or Win9x days.

The X1250 is pretty weaksauce unfortunately. My old Satellite had a 1.9Ghz Turion X2 and a Radeon X1200- it struggled at so much as Star Wars Battlefront II at native resolution. Source games were unplayable on it, so I don't think yours will be capable of much more.

8 bit space invaders

I would venture to say a lot of old games may run just fine like Deus X, Halflife, Battlezone2, Starcraft, Quake2, Dungeon Siege1&2, Titan quest, Painkiller series, Neverwinters Night series, Baldur's Gate series....well you get the picture....many old games will run just fine...how do I know, I have all of the above and more that work on my old game machine which is a lot worse than the laptop you are asking about.

Some of the weaker Unity games
For some of these, namely Noctis, Doom, Counterstrike and Lemmings, install Freedos to play.

I got a Gateway with the i3 and the HD3000 Intel Graphics. With a bit of tweaking, I can play Fallout 3 on that thing, but I didn't get it for gaming anyway as I just built a desktop for that. Noghiri seems to have come up with a pretty good list though.

The Red Baron (1990, released free by Sierra if you can find a copy)
Pretty much anything that runs on DOS
Warzone 2100

He can play most games but no battlefield 3,mw2, mw3, black ops etc. If he is looking for a gaming pc tell him/her not to get that one.

I think we already kinda established no BF3, MW2 BOPS or any of that vintage.

He already has it. The question was what he COULD play on that thing.
