I'm moving to a new RPG after replaying through Fallout 3 in anticipation for Fallout: New Vegas and have narrowed it down to Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2. I have played through the original Dragon Age: Origins game but have not played Mass Effect 2. Here's my problem. I loved Dragon Age and have now picked up all the DLC. I have not played ME2 because I put about 8 hours in ME1 and was not all that impressed. It was fun, but felt really repetitive. I wasn't impressed with the fighting mechanics all that much. I'm looking to put about 40-50 hours into the game and just don't want to start a game and get bored and then not have the time to put into a different game that it deserves before New Vegas comes out. So do I put the time into DA:O because I know I will enjoy it or do I give ME2 a chance and risk hating it and never picking it back up again. If I choose ME2 I'll go ahead and invest in whatever DLC is out for it.

Ok, so you liked DA:O and did NOT like ME.

Buy DA.

I already own both of them, yes I actually bought them, but wanted other peoples opinion on what they liked better and if ME2 was that much better than the first or just more of the same.

ME2 is the same as the first. Different plot, better graphics, slightly tweaked gameplay.

If you liked DA:O and didn't like ME, buying DA is the (very) obvious choice.

I like ME2 but like Jipstyle said its been tweaked a bit and in this case its a good thing. Overall though if you liked DA:O then I personally would go for DA. There wasn't that much game changing content that I would recommend ME2 even though I liked it.

I have to agree with Jipstyle said, buy DA. I picked up ME2 after completing DA, played ME2 once and never picked it up again.

I did not enjoy Dragon Age. It felt like Knights of the Old Republic, with Morrowind and some WoW thrown into a blender. These three things sound awesome, but when mixed together, it left a bad impression on me.

You have to consider tank and damage roles when fighting - which is where the WoW comes in. You will use game mechanics that are pretty old - which is where KOTOR comes in. And, the details of the world are very significant and thought out - which is where Morrowind comes in.

For ME2, it's a great looking game with excellent game mechanics. Of course, these are the mechanics, style and story I enjoy.

Since you did not enjoy ME1, it doesn't sound like you will enjoy ME2. But, ME 2 is better than 1.

It's a little late on the draw, but I thoroughly enjoyed Dragon age...

*edit* Fallout3 was *U*K*N* awesome.

I really gotta play through those xpansion packs.
