Games like the Stalker series and metro 2033 with the best visuals. I can't play any more Battlefield, Call of Duty or other military. AvP sucks and I do like GTA4 but it crashes too often. DirectX 11 preferred.

Thanks in advance.

Probably left 4 dead or borderlands would be up your alley.

Personally I'm still not done with UT2004

No one is ever done with 2k4 =P

Check out Bioshock 2 and keep an eye out for Rage when ever it comes out.

It's not a graphical show but it's hard to beat TF2 for online play

Just cause 2 was a blast, and looks very pretty. It's very different from cod and BF. To me it was kind of a breath of fresh air. Give it a try. The other suggestions in this thread are also very good. I really liked crysis too. There are too many hackers in TF2.

Borderlands was a good game. In my opinion I would get a friend to play with. Have two people makes it tons of fun.

Number 2 gets my vote.

Very nice visuals and a great game as well.

FEAR and STALKER series I had a lot of fun with.

If you don't mind old games with outdated graphics I would say the original Deus X and the original Halflife would be what you are looking for.

Quake 4 and DOOM 3 were fair FPS games.

Nasty

I like FEAR (the 1st 3). FEAR 2 it just seemed to have to much gratuitous gore. Though I haven't played it all the way through yet.

Loved Quake 4. But I got stuck leading the remnants of the invasion force out trying to kill that "robot??" in that room with all the other bad guys dropping in to help him. I'll go back eventually.

Far Cry 2, I wish more of the FPS would come out in this sandbox format. I think it great to be able to do the missions in the order I want and makeing my own plan of attack.

Love Crysis.

While many won't agree, I liked PREY. Admittedly it gets a little strange. But it surely is different.

Older games like BF 42 were ok. But I started with FEAR 1st, for me that made the movement/interaction commands lacking.

Have only just loaded and played Bad company 2 and Sniper: Ghost Warrior enough to get the layout of the commands and options laid out. They seem good but just haven't had the time to get into them.

I loved playing PREY as well, so you're not alone there, bro. Fallout 3, BFBC2, Crysis, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., FC2, TF2 (just play on the good and vac-secured servers if you don't want the bs, kind of a given), HL2 multiplayer (campaign and expansions still kick ass too), Q4, UT3 and 2004, F.E.A.R. 1 + expansions too. Hell, even Doom 3 still looks stellar for it's age.

Borderlands is great, but the graphics are deceivingly simple when you see screen shots. Spend an hour playing the game with all the good detail turned on and up and you'll appreciate the graphics a lot more.

I play UT3 sometimes too, UT 2004 is good but just not current tech-wise enough for me to consider as high quality for today's games.

Left 4 Dead 2 is fun to play.

Obsidian - UT2004 has plenty current tech, just a different style. Play onslaught sometime and tell me modern games have better vehicular combat. I've played modern games and it's all the same. They may have fewer clipping issues but that's only because they expand the hitboxes of everything so much that all items have a 5 foot+ force field around them.

I haven't seen any groundbreaking improvements in the multiplayer FPS arena over the last 6 years. Since I don't like ultra-realistic shooters I wish UT2004 was still in development being iteratively developed.

My point was that UT2004 doesn't push hardware and visuals. If that's what was meant by 'high quality' then it's not high quality.

If the OP wants a game that's well made and well received by the gaming community then UT2004 would fit the bill. I played that game hundreds of hours on mostly the onslaught maps. But the vehicles make it less of a FPS and more of a full bodied beer ... umm, I mean game. I wasn't a huge fan of the deathmatch in UT2004 or the key-combo power ups. I wasn't suggesting it was a bad game, just not a current, high quality FPS.

Ah visual quality.

In case you never tried it most 1v1 DM in ut2004 these days is done in utcomp - and most servers remove adrenalin and combos. For team play nothing beats TAM though.
