That's Right, Less than 2 Months Separates us mere mortals from becoming rulers of empires that span the tests of time, Deities in our own right.

Here's the latest info:

System Requirements:
http://www.civilization5.com/#/communit ... quirements

Holy Flying Saucers Batman, is that a Dual-Core CPU listed as a Minimum requirement?

Here's a Blog where some lucky fella got to play 400 turns (9 hours) with the game:
http://kotaku.com/5602257/400-turns-of-civilization-v

My first thought... WTF, didn't most games end well before 400 turns in CIV 4?

Okay there's a bunch more updates on the Community Page, I'm not going to Direct URL them all, just the one page:
http://www.civilization5.com/#/community/

My favorite blurb... There WILL be a Demo! :)

Remember all the release date is September 21st. You can buy it on Steam as well.

Peace!

Dan O.

I am absolutely pumped for this game.

As for 400 rounds? No .. a good game can last much much longer.

Of course, I like to play on Marathon. :P

I'm not a huge RTS fan, but I've always had a thing for the Civ games. I may get this one.

This is the game I've most looked forward to for awhile. I need to get Mass Effect 2 done so I don't have anything holding me back when this comes out. I imagine I'll have to adjust my sleep schedule as well. I'm sure most of you know full well the "1 more turn" which ends up becoming a 5 am collapse into bed. I can't wait.

I would not classify this as a RTS It would be more turned based strategy or TBS.

Cant wait CIV 4 was great but did not get much sleep.

I'm ashamed to admit I've never played Civ. But after reading this thread I looked up FreeCiv, and after like an hour, despite my newbishness, I guess I can understand the appeal.

FreeCiv is to Civ what a cup of coffee is to pure meth.

Oh, I know, it's just that seeing the pretty pictures without understanding the gameplay does nothing for me.

I've been really enjoying Starcraft 2 lately, and though I've been dying for more time to play it (job and family have been keeping me away from it), I think I might have to switch to Civ 5 next month!

I've never been in a hurry to buy the next installment of Civilization, because the new releases almost feel like the EA sports games: some graphics updates and some really small gameplay enhancements/changes/additions (some good, some annoying); however, the new hex tiles, the removal of unit stacking, the fact that units aren't necessarily destroyed when beaten--and more--make it sound like this Civ is finally going to have a different feel. It sounds like it'll be much better, so here's to hoping that's true! Just one more turn!

The game releases tomorrow! Who is excited?!

I preordered and preloaded on Steam yesterday, so I'm good to go as soon as it unlocks tomorrow morning.

I think I feel a bit of flu coming on ... ;)

Been watching that "unlocks in..." countdown timer on Steam for weeks!

Have you guys checked out the reviews?

http://apolyton.net/showthread.php/1928 ... rence-List

Game Trailers is my favorite review, it's all a video, over 7 minutes long. :)

And what about the gameplay vid's? Have you guys checked those out yet?

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/9553042 (Part 1) 1hr 6min
http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/9553042 (Part 2) 1hr

Oh and read the manual while you wait!

http://downloads.2kgames.com/civ5/site1 ... h_v1.0.pdf

It's best to use an actual Adobe reader, as it uses some rather-high end PDF features, lots of linking, image functions, etc. 220 pages 25MB!

I read the manual and most of the reviews ... it looks absolutely fantastic.

There is no way in hell that i'm wasting two hours watching someone else play, though. 20 hours to go!

If i read any reviews, or watch an previews its just gonna erode what little will power i have left and get me to buy it, and i've got exams and projects due pretty much every day for the next 2 weeks so that not the best idea right now.

Exams and Projects be damned sire! Would you have our armies wasting away without our commander?

Sorry, I've been tapping into those old Civ II clips from the Advisors a bit too much. :P

battle.net is down so i cant play SC2 right now, and i do have some money in my bank account...i can just play a few turns right....gaaah

Edit:

I have no will power, downloading at 1.5MB/s so in about an hour i wont care.

Edit Again:

Okay so i've played it for roughly an hour now and already run into two bugs. the first is an issue with dual monitors, for me if i move my mouse to the far side of the screen, the mouse automatically jumps to my second monitor. The problem is that the game is not running in the second monitor so it just goes over to my desktop, which means that instead of moving the camera to the right it just lets me click on stuff on my desktop, i've had to unhook my second monitor to fix this. The other issue is with Alt+Tab, instead of minimizing the game, it essentially turns it into a wallpaper, this is not good if you are trying to convince your wife that you're studying for a mid term instead of cracking out to civ.
