Maximum PC

Americas Army 3 on steam.

What do you guys think ? Its FREE so i went ahead and checked it out and heres what I think:

1) can't play unless u do the initial bootcamp training (not THAT bad)
2) they only have very very very few multiplayer maps
3) the graphics, even at 1080p, is poor to today's standard (it look pre-directx 8.1 kind of graphics)

I hope the community can update this game to directx10.x / nicer graphic engine like what we see on Farcry2 / etc. Also I hope there will be more maps to play with.

It was bugged like crazy when it first came out and no one could even get online to play. It took 2 or 3 days to fix and by that time I had given up on it.

I've been thinking about trying it again very recently actually since I've gotten into the Insurgency mod for HL2. I'll take this thread as a sign and redownload it tonight.

AA3 is running on the Unreal Engine 3. However, they are using pretty low quality textures (they probably wanted to get the greatest number of people to play, not everyone has a decent rig). Other than that, its developed by the US Army as a recruitment tool.

I wasn't too fond of it, and personally movement is kinda sluggish. Besides that, it has some cool tech behind it. Its running the Unreal Engine while integrating Steamworks.

There won't be many updates, they fired the whole development team the day after the game came out.

Just played a few rounds and hated it. Insurgency is so much better imho.

Its an oldish game, but for all you Army simulation fans, try Full Spectrum Warrior. It received high marks when it was released. I haven't played it nor do I still think people are on multiplayer. You can get the free one (ad-supported) here or torrent/http here or torrent here. Or support Steam and get the sequel too here.

That's nice to know. I guess I'll delete it tonight then. That's a shame too, I had the first one years ago and really enjoyed it. It was fun having to take the tests to actually be a medic and go through the little sniper trials.
