I've been getting back into Insurgency, a great HL2 mod. I'm a huge fan of the hyper-realistic combat, but the mod is pretty buggy, and can get annoying. Does anybody know of any similar mods or games out there?

You might try the ARMA series. Probably the best thing you can get too simulate modern combat. Huge mod community, so if you are wanting too see different weapons and vehicles...they will most likely have em. :D

yay finally an Insurgency mod fan :)

me too.. Insurgency is my #1 mod for CSS/HL2, and is the ONLY mod that I can never get tired of cuz its alot of fun ! Its not buggy at all - Ive been playing it for 3 years mostly with european teams.

I have heard of ARMA and ARMA2 -- supposedly (like he said) the most realistic combat sim ever, but is really really really hard to play - is this true ? I've been eyeing on it for a while now too !!! BUt I wonder how easily-adaptable is this game for people who plays couunterstrike / battlefield 2.

It's not hard at all too be honest. What I think a lot of people may have a hard time getting used too is that it is not a run and gun like CS:S, or COD:MW2.

Too be honest though, the multiplayer is lacking in my opinion. Lack of players, mods, and almost too gigantic maps really hinder it in my opinion.

Now what I love about this game is the level editor. Not only can you create any scenario, there are a lot of user made addons like weapons, different units from air, ground, and sea.

Hope that helps

Try AA3. Integrates with Steam too.
