hey sorry 2 bother but I'm a total n00b with virtualization thingy.

Is it true that if your laptop is dual-boot (winXP and say Mandriva2009), u can boot up to Mandriva2009 and also run winXP OS ?

Can it be done the other way also ? Boot to winXP and then run Manriva2009 within winXP environment ?

Whats the best "program" to do the above ? Preferrably the first one (boot to Mandriva2009 and then run winXP OS) ?

I use VirtualBox to run XP (32-bit) in seamless mode on Arch (64-bit). However, it's installed in a virtual hard drive, so I can't reboot into that XP install natively.

oh i really meant i want to boot up using my Linux partition, and then be able to run the already installed winXP that was installed on a separate partition.

Is this do-able ?

I've never tried this, but I assume you could use either a virtualization app or an emulator if you just open the disk as a file.. eg.,

~$: qemu /dev/sda1

I've done it in vmware server. Never tried it in qemu or virtucal box.

In any case, you'd have to setup hardware profiles in your guest OS to deal with drivers.
