Anyone here try CrunchBang Linux? Its based on Ubuntu but uses the very light Openbox window manager.

They also have a Lite version, which has very few apps included and also a version just for Eee PCs.

Never heard of it. I only play around with the main distros for the most part. Debian, OpenSuSE, Fedora, Gentoo, Slackware... everything else is just based off of these.

It uses lighter programs, but it doesn't actually feel lighter when you run it. I was running 8.10 on an older computer with no graphics card (intergrated). It ran really smooth, even with Compiz turned on. It's an Intel board with Intel IGP. I think Crunchbang actually FELT slower than full Ubuntu.

Other than that, it's great, network printer connects the same way, excellent theme and conky is cool. :D

So running a full Gnome desktop felt lighter than Openbox? That is very unusual.
