My last homebuild was a TBird 800 on an ASUS A7V mobo....

I seem to recall that LINUX could not be installed (either because of the chip or the mobo)....

Can anyone confirm this? I'm hoping that the OS has evolved past any shortcomings from back then. Is there a way to find out?

I'd like to dual boot with W2KP on primary and Linux on a secondary HD.

I have linux running fine on my A7V, it's not a tbird but that shouldn't matter at all. The hardware is so old (relative to the bleeding edge) that I wouldn't expect any problems now. Give it a shot :)

Some distributions have hardware compatibility lists which can be used as a guide, but they may not have tested with your exact combo anyway.

I've had linux running just fine on a duron 800, a tbird 1.0, 1.2, and 1.4 ... all on an A7V133.

You shouldn't have any issues with the chipset or the CPU.
