Through WINE, yes. I've heard it does, but the games may be a different story.

Google?

The first hit I got is for a Wiki that is maintained by Valve and explains how to get Steam running in linux: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki ... nder_Linux

I've got Steam installed on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS via Wine. The Steam app itself runs fine, but slow. I haven't gotten a game to work on it though. I tried Half-Life 2, both episodes, Lost Coast, and I also tried to fire up TrackMania Nations. I know Linux can handle that game just fine, as it's completely OpenGL.

I'll have to check out that article Jip posted a link to.

I've gotten DOD, DODS, and CSS working in Steam (with Wine) on Gentoo. DODS takes a decent FPS hit (even with graphical detail turned down), and I've never gotten my microphone working under ALSA, so I can't use it ingame.

Bottom line, if you refuse to install windows then it's playable, but I would dual-boot if I were you.
