gOS is not a google product. gOS has nothing to do with google, other than the fact that both names start with 'g' and that the OS offers some integration with google products 'out of the box'.

gOS looks like OSX because gOS is based on Ubuntu ... both OSes are Unix clones.

I've looked and as far as I see, there isn't one as of yet.

Of course they are/will. What could possibly be the logic not to offer an OS? Join in and follow along, http://googlesystem.blogspot.com

"An unofficial blog that watches Google's latest attempts to move your operating system online."

Again .. Google is not going to produce their own OS.

I can see Google releasing a specialised distro with complete integration of all of their tools and gadgets .. but an OS just isn't the market space for them.

I think Google is starting to get "corporate 'star struck popularity' disease."

It wouldn't surprise me if Google did try to make their own open source OS based off a Linux build with complete integration of Google tools, gadgets and appliance apps. I think Google is one step away from turning tremendously stupid and thinking they can rule the computing world. Then throwing away millions trying to make it happen.

I agree with Quake. They are starting to experience feature creep and that's not a good thing.

You weren't referring to the Android OS for mobile phones, were you?

Apparently, Google's mobile OS (Android) is considerably more powerful than I had suspected.

According to an article on Ars Technica, Android has been ported to a netbook (Asus 1000H eeePC).

There is also a FAQ for Android on netbooks on the same site.
