Funny story, and I laugh at the ignorance and the hypocrisy of the teacher.

Yikes! Heaven forbid what'd happen if a Mac appeared in the school.

Considering the couple of blatent mis-spellings (confrence sticks out), I'm pretty close to calling this a publicity stunt.

Edit: OK, this guy is building Linux computers for disadvantaged or "exceptionally promising" students.

Perhaps she thinks he's bilking the charity...What scares me though is she seems to be spoon feeding this proletariat belief to her students and those who aren't with her...get their linux disks taken away and sent to the principles office like they did something wrong..

I'm willing to bet, given my cynical nature, that the emails from the teacher are a marketing ploy.

What was just another 'linux for the poor' campaign is now getting a LOT of attention.

If it isn't .. well, it should have been. I'd rather hear about someone being clever than a complete fucktool making an ass of herself.

The response he had was awesome. lol

Although, I will say that I disagree with his statement that Linux is superior in every way. It is different. In some cases better, other worse. They both have advantages and disadvantages.

Actually the wording is
"linux is superior to MS windows in so many ways"

But ya... this teacher has no clue.
And I agree, both OS's have there flaws and strengths.

Just sad.....threatening the guy with legal action.

I would suspect something along the lines of a restraining or gag order before any further damage is done to what little status she may currently hold in the district.

Amazingly, it seems she gets representation, then contacts the guy. How many lawyers do you know would tell their clients to pull that stunt.

I'm actually surprised we don't know the true identity of the teacher though. You'd think at least one teacher or student would've spilled those beans long ago.

No, it doesn't. It belongs here because it is about Linux and its reception in the wider world.

The Break Room is for talking about jeeps and derailing threads that are not about jeeps into a thread that is about jeeps.

You can talk about putting a linux box into your jeep for GPS, mapping, music, etc.. That is allowed.

I'd let "Karen" take me to court.

Then counter sue for pain and suffering.

No court could possibly convict (of what crime??) this guy.

Could she really claim "assault" for his "angry" letter of response?

If so, you guys need to put that 2nd Amendment to use and trash your current legal system.

No doubt.

Obviously, the kid did something that perked the curiosity of the teacher and IMO both sides acted equally in an asinine manner.

I'd be curious how many are out there that are questioning her ability as a teacher right now and how many are looking at Stark as not practicing any caution (sort of like giving you kid a gun, but not showing them proper use) and questioning his purpose in all this.
