I have a computer at work that is running Ubuntu and I am trying to connect to our server running Windows 2003. All the other computers in my office are running XP and I can see their files by going through "Places" > "Network." But, when I try and go to the server through Ubuntu, I can see the server but when I try to get into the server I can't see any files. Now when we connect a XP computer to the server for the first time we have to use a username and password, but Ubuntu does not give me this option. What am I doing wrong, and how can I put in my username and password. Do I need to install Samba?

In nautilus (the file browser) , from the "Go" menu, you can choose either "network" to browse visible shares (but this depends on correct Guest config on your Windows server, you might find that none show up) or you can choose "location" to manually enter a share to navigate to in the format:
Code:
smb://server/share
