Looks like Symbian is the rope in a mobile communications tug-of-war.

Wow! I thought Nokia was trying to own Symbian, and in comes Sony Ericsson to shake it up.

All I hope is that it means better software for us. I really like the idea of mobile phones that can do it all in a pretty small package, plus Symbian has always been Java-friendly.

Speaking of which, have you spent some time in J2ME? If so, was it a good experience? I was hoping to finish a few of the professional development courses for J2ME at ACM later this summer.

These other companies seem to be concerned that Nokia might take over Symbian. I wonder what Nokia plans on doing if they succeed.

Briefly, but no MIDP development or anything big. Just surface-level stuff that was more Java than J2ME.

I know a few people who do midlets and whatnot, they think it's great. Lots of capabilities. It'd probably be fun to learn.

I dont care what nokia does with them. I am considering they are at 47.9% share in the compnay it might take them a while but they will get 51 percent then do what ever they want with there controling share.
