OS News has a sort little story about BeOS which if Palm hadn't bought them and killed it would be 10 years old this year...

Luckly there is a Open Source BeOS in the works. You can check out the project at http://www.openbeos.org/

I remember the free black and white version of BeOS I first used. Installed it at work one day. Fun times.

Probably. I remember seeing BeOS on display in their booth at the 1996 PC Expo in NYC.

No one cared about it too much back then. They were all probably trying to score free zip disks at the Iomega booth and get free polaroid's with the viewsonic birds.

I think the biggest problem was that it was ppc only for so long and then it was both x86 and ppc... i think they should of been x86 from day one and probably would of gotten a bigger foot hold
