You local library should have a dos for dummies type manual ;)

Outside of that root, if your using real dos, and not win95+ dos, typing help should give you the full on help program which lists all the commands and the various settings for them.

I learned the basics of DOS when I was 6. I learned right off how to go to the floppy drive and load a game.

Later, when I was about 8 or 9, I learned how to program in BASIC. Yeah, doesn't that make me sound like a dinosaur?

I used to drive my sisters nuts. I would program different sounds to come out of the PC speaker. No, not the soundcard, the PC Speaker.

You could set it with a pitch and legnth, I blelieve. I used to also make it repeating, so I could make it go up, then down, then up, then down, etc.

It's amazing what those PC speakers were capable of! Some of the pitches were beyond human hearing.

I was at a high-end stereo shop one time and one of the technicians hooked up a sub to a scope and fed it a 18 or 19 hz signal. The sub was moving around (long slow pushes in and out) and none of us heard a thing! That was pretty cool.
