I’m trying to install Mandrake 10.0 Linux, I’ve hit a couple snags so far. The first problem I get is in the installation.

When selecting the options I want to install if I select certain options like databases the installation till freeze up and I have to reboot the system. I got around this by not installing anything extra like gaming or database which I would really like.

Next is even after the install finishes and I try to boot the system it won't boot? I haven't found a work around for this yet but I was wondering if anyone was having this problem

I got the Images off linuxiso.org and they seem to be good

My PC Specs.
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
AMD Althon 2800+
NVIDIA Video Card 5700 FX Ultra
Logitech KB/ Mouse wireless
1GB Cosairs
250 Maxtor Windows XP SP2
80 Maxtor Want this to be the Linux patrician
Sony DVD RW-+
DVD Rom
Any other questions I’ll post back but that’s all the info I can think to give for now.

Did you verify the checksums?
The first thing I would try is to redownload (from a different mirror just to be safe) and reburn the isos.

I too have had similar problems, but nothing quite like this before. I would obtain a copy of Mandrake 9.2 and do a simple install of that first, don't forget your GUI! Then, pop in your MDK10 CD while in 9.2 and update all the components of the system that are already installed. BE WARNED: This will take a LONG time to complete, so get ready for a long day. Have fun!

I'm going to suspect there's going to be a boot option to address the loading issue. Beyond that, only thing I can think of is, it's trying to rsolve some dependencies when trying to load some things...although games shouldn't be a issue there.

I didn't have any issues here when I loaded 10 a few months ago.

New Download isn't a bad idea...unless this is a release copy from them.
