The software will be called AOL Office on the consumer desktop machines

But it's still AOL.

What the heck is a AOL optimized PC?? From the specs it sounds like a rehashed emachine

Sun will provide the office suite and related support.

..talk about something that'll drive call volume...as yet everyone will still call AOL for this :)

And please tell me they didn't partner with Novell to offer an alternative OS.

This has me curious... has anyone seen an OpenOffice vs StarOffice comparison recently? It would make a good thread.

....i cant belive systamax would put out such a pile of crap.....its still a $600 PC(after the $23.90 per month AOL BS).....and a branded OS like what HP/Compaq and gateway uses sucks......so you can imagine how bad an AOL branded OS will work.......scary, while it is better than a cheep-o walmart PC more than likely you would be better off buying a XP upgrade disk ..........but it is ment for computer newbies who dont know better.

I forgot....why the hell would anyone pay for AOL broadband?it is an extra charge ON TOP of a broadband ISP service..IMO AOL is nuthin but a scam nowdays.

so this is to AOL....SUKKA FATTY
