Hey all. I have a free day tomorrow, and I'm getting to the part in my Unix course where I need to regularly use Unix to keep up, so I was going to try (finally) to set up my dual boot. One question though... I tried running through it once and the distro (Gentoo) requires an internet connection to run smoothly. However, the distro doesn't come packaged with the drivers that my mobo needs for the network connection. Any advice on how to go about doing this?

Gentoo should have drivers for most major cards ... what kind do you use?

If there isn't a generic driver that you can use, you can always burn one to the same CD that you boot Gentoo from ... but to be honest, I don't think that this would be necessary.

Start by letting us know what chipset your NIC uses ... or at what model ... and we can probably tell you which driver to use. :)

Of course, the only answer would be to download the drivers beforehand.......perhaps place them on a second CD drive or on another partition and then create the link in a config file that would use that path as a source for the drivers?

Just a first thought....

That would be wonderful if I had a second optical drive.
