Maximum PC

I have recently purchased an Android 2.2 phone and I like it a lot. The only problem is that I have yet to learn its full capabilities. I have done the usual "learn-by-play" but I am interested in really learning what the Android OS has to offer but I am having trouble locating some good training tools. In the past when I have wanted to learning a new version of Windows I usually just look for some type of VTC, Lynda, Trainsignal, or a similar type of learning. Does anyone have any good recommendations of a good book, video, or web site that can help me learn about the how system and not just parts.
Also, I currently have Android 2.2 and I was wondering is there a way to upgrade to a higher version of Android. I went to Wikipedia and found that the 3.3 version was mainly written for Tablets, but is it available for Phones? If it can be used on phones how can I upgrade?
