I just got my backup Linux PC upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04 from Ubuntu 9.10. Wow,what a difference. It's far faster, and also smoother.

Thankfully the interface isn't too different from Ubuntu 9.10.(I'm using the default Unity desktop environment.)

The interface is "ok" in my book but I like to be able to spin my desktop cube so I reverted to Ubuntu Classic and turned on CCSM.

FIFY.

Seems to be pretty common though. I went through that too. ::shrug::

I'll stick with Windows, IMO.

Know what you mean, you find a distro that you like and *poof*, they change something in an annoying manner and you move on then in a couple of versions your new favorite distro pulls something stupid.

Speaking of Windows, I finally ditched XP(rip) and other than a few minor gripes, I love 7!

That is, in my opinion, the BIGGEST reason why you will never see Linux beat out MS as the primary desktop (aside from decades of established markets). Just like the "Android fragmentation" problem. There is just too much difference between every distro. If somebody doesn't like what their distro is doing and there is a big enough community following, you get another distro. Rinse and repeat.

Until Linux has one uniform pathway for kernel development (just look at the release dates, it is a NIGHTMARE) and a solid (dare I say, singular) packaging system/repo it will be stuck where it is.

Win 7 ftmfw btw. :)
