Hey Iḿ just wondering if theres any bad thing with installing an older linux with older linux kernel version.. Gnome ZenMini (Kernel 2.6.26.8 tex3, Gnome 2.28.1), instead of the newer 2.6.33.x ?

.. and how do u update the kernel ?

I´ve been using Mandriva2009 until 2010.1 but this ZenMini seems to be soooo much faster !! so Iḿ sticking to this :)

stable releases for the distro are generally available from through their updates, however those are delivered.

Have you not ever done this in Mandriva?

i usually do clean-install of the latest iso because it is recommended.

But my real question is... is there any harm or disadvantage on running an old kernel (Kernel 2.6.26.8 tex3) ? Just curious.

Iĺl just have to wait for PCLinuxOS Zen mini 2010 to be released, so in the mean time Iĺl be running the old ones

You should generally update to the latest just to address any bug fixes or security updates that may be out there, but there's usually nothing wrong with just sticking with what initially comes off the media.

Again, their updates should have something a bit newer Understand that the latest and greatest probably hasn't been tested and implemented in your distro, so that .26 you're talking about may be the last released version available to you right now that works with everything else (i.e. xorg, sensors)
