Ok, I managed to get it installed... Now, you will probably laugh your ass off at me, but now that I've logged in, what now? All i have is the bazzel@debain:~$ prompt... how do i install KDE so I can have a desktop? Where to from here? I tried reading the debain install manual but I'm not sure if most of that is english... Is there just a step by step guide somewhere? I checked the stickies but had a hard time finding much... Thanks,

-bazzel

You can install kde or gnome (and X windows and all the rest of the stuff you need) by typing apt-get install kde or apt-get install gnome

Once that's done, you can start the GUI by typing startx

However, this is all stuff that's well documented on the various linux newb sites. Just putting "install KDE debian" into google got me a page that has specific instructions.

Hmm....to add to what they said - I just type "kdm" at the prompt and it pops on. KDE that is.

Of course, I installed with knoppix - so its a bit different. But why not try - its just three letters.

Heck...I'm almost tempted to suggest configuring pine or elm and start using lynx for a web browser :)
