Hello all,
I recently installed Mandrake 10.1 on my laptop and it has been a real bitch trying to get WiFi working (this is very important - cat 5s suck). I tried to install a D-Link AirPlus XtremeG DWL-G650 using ndiswrapper 1.2 (ndiswrapper.sourceforge.com) following these directions: http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/phpw ... stallation

This is what I get:
[root@192 ndiswrapper-0.12]# make install
make -C driver install
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/chase/docs/ndiswrapper-0.12/driver'
Can't find kernel sources in /lib/modules/2.6.8.1-12mdk/build;
give the path to kernel sources with KSRC=<path> argument to make
make[1]: *** [prereq_check] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/chase/docs/ndiswrapper-0.12/driver'
make: *** [install] Error 2

I am a linux noob of sorts and I'm sure I am overlooking a lot in my ignorance. If someone could lend a hand it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you install the kernel source? If not open drakconf goto Software Management > Install and search for "kernel-source" and select the package "kernel-source-2.6-2.6.8.1-12mdk" and install it.
Then try to compile ndiswrapper.

From a quick bit of research it looks like your card uses the Atheros based chipset which has a driver in development, you may not need ndiswrapper. Check out MADWiFi for your card.

Yeah, you are right. I guessed that was the problem and installed the source. Still a few probs, like figuring out which win driver I need, but i think it will work. If I still have difficulties I'll look into that madwifi thing you mentioned. Thanks.

I should have checked before (hindsight is always 20/20)...you can just install ndiswrapper and madwifi right from the drakconf control panel.
