Hey Guys,

When I originally was looking at different Linux versions (finally settled on Mint) I remember reading about a distro that boots almost instantly, functions only as a web browser and a media player. I cannot seem to find it. Any ideas which one it might be?

Thanks

Sounds like you were talking about ChromeOS for a second there.

I haven't heard a distro with only a kernel, some libs, a browser and media player. If you wanted something like that, you could do a barebones install of something like Debian or Ubuntu and simply use apt-get to install Gnome, Mplayer and the browser of your choice.

Got me...

I'd think someone just rolled their own livecd (streambox maybe??) or described how to move something like Xubuntu to a USB Key and remove some stuff that's needless and add some stuff that's necessary.

I'd tested this.. boot super fast from cd directly to RAM, then automatically ejects CD so u can add dvd movies or listen 2 music + samba ! :)

but few years ago, Amarok used to have its own LIVE-CD and I'd tested it..
