 Post subject: How to install Windows Media 2005

I have the retail version of windows xp installed, I want to install windows media center 2005 on top of it. But there is no setup.exe from the WMC 2005 (dled from my school msdn), how can I install it?

I know that some schools provide/pay for the licensing package that allows their students to install various versions of the OS.

I'm going to go off of the assumption that this is the case, however; and I can't stress this enough - please make sure that you have the proper license for doing this - we can't/don't/won't support pirated software on the forums here. We (being the members) would never want to do anything that got Maximum PC in trouble..

That being said - Windows NT (3.x and above to my knowledge) do not use setup.exe as the initiator for their installation.

To start the new Windows setup from within your existing version of Windows - you should look for a WINNT32.EXE file.

To start it from "dos" or a boot disk - the setup startup file is winnt.exe
