On some sites, there is a small box with a red x in the middle, generally in a corner somewhere. It appears to be some sort of picture or tiem that is not properly displaying. This happens both in IE and Mozilla - though it just started happening in the last couple of days.

Does anyone know what is causing this? I have not changed any settings for IE, Mozilla, or my firewall (ZoneAlarm Pro).

Yea... whitebox with red x is missing or bad image link. I have that happen to me on some sites.. try right clicking and choose 'Show Picture'. If a pic comes up, its just random and happens to many... if nothing comes up, its probably just the site...
