Good question!

Coding a 64-bit OS can't be half as complicated as porting a 32-bit game to a 64-bit environment.

Porting the game would be relatively simple, basically just a new command line option when they compile it. Especially since Athlon64's can run 32bit programs without issue. It's not like the game has to do anything different to run. The OS on the otherhand has to act as the interface between the hardware and the software, as such there is more involved. Last I heard XP64 will be first quarter of 05.

There are two problems with running Win 64 now.
1. It's still BETA software.
2. Driver support is still sketchy.

There really aren't that many apps that take advantage of it yet, so unless you just feel like being a guinea pig, I don't think it's worth the headaches. Keeping in mind that it's still BETA, I wouldn't advise putting it on a primary or sole system.
