I had my question in the wrong arena....
I believe this is where it should have been posted:

Quote:
hello all, im new here, but have been an avid maximumpc fan and subscriber for a little over two years now...
it only comes to the most recent where i am actually seeking assistance to one of my problems that i normally take care of myself...
it should be simple, but i cant seem to figure it out for the life of me...

computer broke down
new computer bought, installed os: winxp pro
main harddrive set to slave on new computer
previous os was xp pro as well, all user accounts were password protected
trying to access files in the documents and settings folder and/or the folders of the corresponding users are not accessible now from the new computer.
how do i go about rectifying that and retrieving the folders/files on that drive?
any help is most welcome

Heheh - you missed again. Oh well, its probably ok this time - maybe a Mod will move the thread for you. In the future you want to post in the Free Clinic folder when you have a problem (normally).

The good news:
Many of the FC folks come in here as well, so you will likely get some help .

DO NOT post again or the Mods may consider it spamming. Let them move it if they want. They know its a mistake.

BTW - Were the files encrypted?

Are you using NTFS (this might matter if a linux boot solution needs to be used)

And a bump - 'cuz I really can't help you. Hopefully others will post that know more.
