Maximum PC

Hey all. I was just looking at a PC World article. I found that there is a command in XP called "shutdown" and if used in this format "shutdown -s -t x" I can put a time in seconds for the value x for the computer to wait before shutting down.

But, I don't like shutting down. That takes too much time. I was wondering if I could hibernate instead. Is there a way that I can create a shortcut to a command that will hibernate the PC in, say, 3 hours? The main reason for this is that I don't like leaving my PC on all night. On the other hand, I like leaving it on all day. I know there is a way to put a 3 hour time limit on in Power Management, and to hibernate after those 3 or whatever hours, but I only want to do it every so often. I don't want this thing shutting down during the day.

I don't know, I guess I don't have to have a shortcut, but it sure would come in handy at times,

There are a few pretty good tools out there to get where you want to go. Take a look here:

Look for the free programs on the left. Once in the free programs look over the "Show Stopper" and the options it has. It allows for using command lines with a timer function from what I read.

Karen distributes her programs (all written in VB 6.0) in two versions. She offers the compiled program ready to run, and she also offers them with free source code in VB 6 for those who want to modify or develop on her stuff. There are some very good and very useful Power Tools.
