After a couple or RMAs, some data lost and some hours of installation, I installed a Raid0 in my computer and I like the performance. It's not that fast, but it's certanly faster than my previous installation.

Now, I have a few questions:
+ I ghosted the RAID. If I lose one of the drives, is it possible to install the image in a single drive? Does it matter where it is connected, (primary/secondary 1st or second IDE connector or PCI card)?

Righ now I have 2 drives and 2 DVDs connected to the mobo. The raid is in an external PCI card.

+ I got a BSOD, but I don't know the reason. I said someting about a IDE driver. Is it common to have some problems like this? how to know if it will become a problem?

I'm planning on having a drive for back up, mirrored in an external drive (just in case).
+ What backup software is a good tool to keep it backed up. The RAID will contain only the OS, so it's not that critical if I lose some data, but I'd like to back up a few directories. Also, i want the program to backup to my external drive, but what if the drive letter changes when plugged in? Is is possible that the backup software will search for it?

Thx.

assuming you have Windows XP, if you manually assign the drive a letter somewhere low in the alphabet, you shouldn't have any problems with the drive changing letters from future connections and disconnections.
