Was putzin' around in the computer today and while looking for errata to delete, I noticed this.
19 Microsoft Visual C++ files listed. I have to assume that most are updates of older files. If that is so, why aren't the older files removed when updated? I can't assume that they would be okay to remove myself as they weren't removed automatically.
MS, do I REALLY need 19 Microsoft Visual C++ files?

Because this is how backwards compatibility works in real life. Even if you made you libraries backwards compatible, whatever you did could cause unwanted side effects in the program that used a previous version of the library. So if you want to guarantee your software works, ship it with only the libraries its compatible for and install it.
