Every time I search through MaximumPC.com (and other sites) with EVERY page I get the nice message

"Do you want to allow software such as ActiveX controls and plug-ins to run?" <yes><no>

I say "yes" it still pops up with teh next page. I say "no" and agains it still pops up with every page. Ahhhhhhhhhh.

I wish there was a button that say "F-off and never come back" .

How do I get rid of this extremely annoying little quirk with IE?

Change the security settings of IE and it won't bother you anymore but be advised if you lower those settings you will be wide open for all kinds of spyware and unwanted apps on your machine. Make them too high and you will lose functionality on some sites that use active X.

Thanks. I was just about to reach for the Haldol  .

Only upgraded to XP Pro recently (from win98SE) for a few months so still learning the ins and outs.

Thanks again.

ActiveX is evil. I once wrote an ActiveX control that would install over the internet and randomly shut down processes (obviously I never actually "released" it). Anyway, ever since I did that I was VERY scared of ActiveX so I switched to Firefox, http://www.mozilla.org/.

I can't live without tabbed browsing and mouse gestures!
