Hello My Fellow Maximum Brothers and Sisters! Here's a good one (or so I think...)

I seem to remember a while (a LONG while) ago that you could put your Windows product activation key in a file somewhere when creating your own custom installation CD/DVD. That way it would already be typed in for you during the install process. That or it would just fly by and install on its merry way. I ask because I am about to build a new PC with/for my nephew and since I'm waiting for him to have time to come over I'm making sure I have everything all setup for a painless (or so I hope) building session. I have created my bootable USB and I'm all set. I just happened to remember this little trick and wondered if it was still possible to do. Sheesh, it might have been back in the Win95 days that I saw this so... ;) What say ye all?

Good news. You're memory is still serving you well. You sure can automate the install and prekey the installation. It's called slipstreaming. It was nLite back in the XP days. Use rt7lite for either 7 or 8. The passkey is only the first convenience, make sure you preload in all the drives and latest upgrades from WUD. Here is a nice little how-to too.

It works for me, Win8 Pro x64. Follow this. Also WinReducer is a great tool to cut the crud and clear the crap out of the install.
