I'm a bit curious about my Windows swap file. For some reason it is recommending a swap of 24GB on my x64 system with 16GB ram. I discovered this when I was poking around, trying to figure out what was using so much of my disk space.

I bumped the swap down to 6GB. However, I'm curious: why does Windows want so much swap? Is there a valid reason for it, or is it just a relic of the days where ram was small and expensive?

Windows will automatically set up a swap file of 1.5 times your RAM when installing. You need to adjust it yourself to a more reasonable level, especially if you have so much RAM.
