Maximum PC

This group seemed to be the best place to post my question. I'm looking for some sort of diagnostic program for battery backups such as Cyberpower and APC. I'm starting at a new job and they're looking for software to help put the replaced batteries in the backup unit through it's paces, something a bit more scientific than "unplug and time how long it takes to run down"

Are these plugged in to the computer with serial or USB? That's the only way there could possibly be a program to test it.
On another note, I thought UPCs were only good for 1 or 2 uses before you had to replace the batteries again.

"Recommended" doesn't mean anything. What I want to know is how many duty cycles the batteries are rated for.

Noghiri, APC doesn't tell users how many cycles the batteries or units are rated for. They do tell people the "expected battery life" but don't say how many deep discharge cycles will kill them. Here's the page for the battery in my BE550G UPS:

Iceman, the only software I can find for APC units with USB connections is their PowerChute UPS management software suite.

That's... not a very good marketing strategy when selling to geeks. We want to know exactly how many times I can use this thing.
I wish there was data for that.

I wish that data existed, too. Over the past 12 years that I've owned APC units, they have always failed just when I needed them most... a power outage will occur usually due to bad weather every three years or so, and the battery will last all of two seconds because it's at the end of its ±3 year service life and hasn't been discharged/used/cycled over those past three years. Oops!
