I am wondering if there is any way to efficiently play games on my windows 7 home premium desktop from my mac (snow leopard) laptop over LAN, minimal latency is not that much of an issue, I just want the desktop to do all of the raw computing power. I'm looking for a free product/protocol that can transmit good quality video over LAN with manageable latency.

side note: the mac part was not my choice.

Why don't you just sit down at your PC and play there?

Are you trying to do something like OnLive with your own hardware?

yeah, basically he is.

There's streammygame.com that's "suppose" to do this, but its an antiquated program now that hasn't been updated for a long time (website hasn't been updated since 2009) and the dude that's suppose to support it hasn't been on the site in like a year. Of what others have said, it worked flawlessly, but a pain to setup. I could never get it to work and I haven't found a good alternative. I tried again last night on my win7 machines and still couldn't get the damn permissions to work.

Most other VNC are great for remote desktop, but suck at even light duties of video play back. I remembering finding another VNC program that actually did alright with streaming small video (SD res) with audio, but not sure about gaming. The makers claim that it ws devloped for streaming games, movies and music. Its called IgRemote. (c.net download link) I'll probably try it out after a friend told me about it, but I kinda doubt its lag-free ability for gaming.

Yeah, I had seen Streammygame.com, but I hesitate to recommend it for the same reasons you stated.
If you had been running Linux, I have heard some people had good results with SSH connections, but that was mostly in the context of roguelikes and the first Doom, neither of which are all that heavy. I don't know if anyone has been able to play heavier games through this method.
