Maximum PC

After trying out Windows 8 developer preview, in my opinion it officially sucks! What do you think?

I dont think it does by a long shot, i know they have a whole lot of bugs to work out, but i believe they will be resolved

i might move to Windows 8 when it releases - the interface does take some getting used to.

it seems highly dependent on shortcut keys and touch functionality to work properly. and the app programming is promising, but they didn't mention anything with the kinect connectivity - only the standard fare of webcams.

rofl... what are you talkin about? they already have drivers out there for kinect usage on computers now, Wink!

i am aware of that, i just did not hear it mentioned at the conference, so i was not entirely convinced.

oh, sorry... complete xbox modder, kinda hear that stuff... there was a challenge months ago the first person to make fully functional drivers got like $5,000 dollars or something

Is anyone tinkering with Win 8? I just downloaded the 64 bit version and put it on this machine:

Intel 2180 cpu (2 gigs)

2 gigs of ram

60 gig IDE Maxtor hard drive

Asus P5G41-M LE/CSM motherboard

Radeon HD 4870 video card

The score on this machine will make you puke, so I wont post it

In spite of the low score the machine cooks along just fine. It boots up promptly and shuts down even faster.

I have been using win7 drivers in place of win 8 drivers...there ain't any...yet ....and so far the pc didn't puke them up...yet.

The very first thing I did was get rid of that ridiculous Metro crap and got back the normal winders interface. I used this little app to do it:

Any thoughts on the operating system so far...like it, hate it...don't know yet

So far it looks and feels like win 7 to me, uses the drivers as well, and I see no compelling reason to buy it so far. Metro sux as far as I am concerned, that is why I killed it. I am a gamer and don't need touch screen crap...don't have a touch screen anyway.
