has anybody ever seen this?

on an OEM install of w7 hp 64bit say you were to rename the admin account. this is the only account that is used on the machine, and the display name when you first log into windows changes but the homefolder of the user account in question remains the same name as the previous user name. and to connect to the shared folders on this particular pc from another win7 computer you still have to use the old username and password on said account on the pc in question.

as I'm typing this a light bulb turns on and i'm thinking I could turn sharing off and possibly try to rename the home folder of the profile in question. anybody ever seen this?

Wouldn't it be easier just to create a new user account?

Well yeah of course LOL, but I was hoping to find what the actual root cause of this particular issue would be.

account names aren't exactly a global object if that's what you're getting at...

maybe that's not the right way to say it. Anyways, just changing the account name isn't going to automagically change any permissions you've made (where would it find where you made changes?) or rename the user folder (same as before, but you can't make the assumption that it's named the default).
