Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the difference is between Windows 7 Home Premium English US versus English non-US retail versions of the OS? I just bought a shrink-wrapped Windows 7 Home Premium English retail box off eBay, and instead of the described US English version (model #GFC-00019), I received the non-US English version (model #GFC-00025). Will this version work in the US (I'm in Indiana) and are there any significant differences between the two? I bought it for a new computer build, but I do not have any parts for it yet. So I cannot just start installing and see. Did I get scammed here, or is it no big deal? I would like to find out, so I can file a case via eBay/paypal if necessary.

If I recall, the only real differences are that the non-U.S. versions do not come with Internet Explorer or Windows Media Player/Media Center preinstalled because of the lawsuits that happened in Europe. You can still acquire the software, you just have to download them manually.


Other than that, just make sure to select English and America when installing.
