So here's my problem. My 1TB Seagate External HDD is filled with a tons of movies. To make it look cleaner and better, I replaced the "default" folder icon with a DVD/Blu-Ray cover art for each movie. When I plug the external hdd into my own laptop, it will show me the custom icon, but when plugged into other people's laptops it shows the default folder icon. Not the biggest problem in the world, but still kinda annoyed me lol.

So does anyone know why this happens, and a fix for it?

Thanks in Advance

Why are you sharing your personal/ripped movies with other people? Not cool, not legal.

The reason is that the custom icon has to be stored somewhere on other peoples' computers as well.
Kleinkenstein is right. Sharing your movies like that isn't legal.

Trust me I'm not sharing my movies. I just don't take my laptop everywhere I go, so I use other people's laptops sometimes. Just want it more organized and cleaner, so the custom icon is a big plus.

Are you sure there is no other way, short of putting an icon on their laptops as well?

If it is possible you'd still have to change where or the way Windows looks for icons on the pc you want it to happen on. Never messed with it myself but I would think that if you really wanted to do that it would be much easier to just copy the icon over than it would be to mess with the registry or install a 3rd party app or whatever manipulations you'd have to do on that other pc. Especially since we're only talking about the icon for one app.
