I'm thinking of getting one of these KeePass type programs to store all my passwords. I have so many damn online accounts and I end up hiding a folder on the desktop somewhere or writing a note and hiding it in my room that has my password information because I'll forget for some of the accounts I don't use very often.

Which program would best suite the Windows 7 environment for this? I know KeePass is popular but I also know a lot of posters here use lesser known but sometimes better programs. Any advice?

Hmm, I was just about to install it since it had such a high rating and then I read the reviews and see about 20 different people saying the LastPass server was hacked and their passwords were compromised. Cloud ftl lately, first Amazon and now this. I guess I'll wait a few days.

I have to read into it more but it seems the last pass thing isn't as big as people make it out to be. Likely nothing was compromised. At least that is what I was told when we I and some work buddies were talking about it.

fwiw, I would be more inclinded to use something like the scheme I read about. It was on reddit a while back.

Basically you come up with a string, for example:

F_*dIn1-

Something you'll remember easily. Then for each service, just appened/postpend the name:

F_*dIn1-goo (gmail/google/etc)
F_*dIn1-mpc (max pc)
F_*dIn1-gnb (Goliath National Bank)

Secure, yet remember-able.
