I have a computer that (from the manufacturer) I can get Windows Server 2003 drivers for. Now, I'm going to be using Windows Server 2008. Can you use drivers written for Server 2003 in Server 2008?

(The computer in question is a home-built AMD machine that I am now going to turn into a file server since it is a mid-ranged quad core, which I'm planning to make this a media server/file server but want to use Windows Server 2008.)

I don't think so, they're two different driver architectures much like going from Windows XP's driver architecture to Windows 7's. You might get lucky and have the drivers work but I sure wouldn't count on it.

I'll second that - it's a different code base (NT6.x for 2k8; NT5.x for 2k3.) And, much as you'll have a helluva time getting XP drivers to work (correctly) in Vista or Win7, you'd have the same problem here (2k8 is Vista's Server sister.)

But, much as you can (usually) use XP drivers on 2k3 (but, Server-rated drivers are still prefereble), you can (usually) use Vista drivers on 2k8 (but, again, Server-rated drivers are prefereble.)
