Anyone know if I will still need another registry cleaner program for registry maintenance if I use Revo Uninstaller Pro to uninstall programs? Any other registry cleaner program such as CCleaner, Registry Mechanic, etc. Or will Revo Uninstaller Pro do it all for me? What do you recommend?

BTW: I'm on Windows 7 x64.

I recommend not using a registry cleaner at all, point blank. Why do you feel you need one? Have you ever seen a gain from them? I haven't...but have seen them delete stuff I needed in the future. I think they're like crack. 5 minutes of a high, then you need to keep using them because we feel they did something. They always delete, but will never add something needed.

Let windows handle installs, uninstalls, and the registry. If for any other reason than to watch Win7's improvements go to work. This ain't 98se...

Clean My PC Registry Cleaner is a good one. I have never had an issue with it and I use it on my client jobs after my regular workking hours. With regards to the claim that registry cleaners do nothing apparently you must be high on crack because they resolve a lot of issues. Why cleanup your cookies and temp files they are just going to come back again. Because they are there and you don't want them. Why would you want registry entries for programs that have been removed? You wouldn't that's why!

Temp files and cookies are totally different things. These two are known to cause slowdown in web browsing, but a bloated registry's impact is mostly unknown.

Conventional wisdom is you don't need to use a registry cleaner. Chumly isn't the only one against them either, several other people are as well. For example, here, Here and Here.

I do recommend the use of registry cleaners when cleaning up malware because there is a possibility of an entry causing a problem, but for the most part, they should not be run frequently.

ccleaner has a reg cleaner...not sure how good it is, but i use it all the time, looking for invalid keys and such after installs or botched installs. i would say its pretty good for the amount i get.

hijack this can look at startup reg keys that can be fixed/removed, as well.
